Mount Isa – Supported Independent Living Provider

We offer Independent Supported Living for Mount Isa residents

Supported independent living is one type of support to help you live in your home.

It includes help or supervision with daily tasks, like personal care or cooking meals. It helps you live as independently as possible, while building your skills.

Supported independent living is for people with higher support needs, who need some level of help at home all the time.

Supported independent living is best suited to people with a disability who have higher support needs.

This means you need a significant amount of help throughout the day, 7 days a week. This includes overnight support.

You can get supported independent living if you live with other NDIS participants. You can also get supported independent living if you live on your own, but there might be other home and living supports that suit you better.

Personal care supports relate to assistance with daily personal activities including assistance with, or supervision of, personal tasks of daily life in your own or your families home.

For example:

  • personal hygiene, including showering, bathing, oral hygiene, dressing and grooming;
  • toileting, bladder and bowel management and menstrual care;
  • eating and drinking;
  • attending appointments;
  • use of aids and appliances, hearing and communication devices;
  • mobility and transferring, for example moving in and out of bed and on or off the toilet; or
  • application of splints, basic first aid due to injuries sustained as a result of a participant’s disability.

Personal care supports may be required across a variety of settings. For example, a participant living alone in their own home, living with family or other people, when undertaking social, recreational, education or employment activities or during holidays away from home.

...without QLSS being the quality organisation, driving the transition forward and advocating for the client in times of crisis – I don’t think that we would be were we are today and the client certainly wouldn’t have made the level of progress they have.
